FMCA Aims to Raise Profile

Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) intends to become more of a “voice” in industry and government discussions that promote quality, safety and mechanical and technological effectiveness in motorhomes, according to a consultant working with the Cincinnati-based organization.

Pat Walker Hickman, principal partner with Tecker Consultants LLC, made the observation in an article in the May issue of FMCA’s Family Motor Coaching magazine, in which she outlined portions of FMCA’s developing three- to five-year strategic plan.

A progress report on the plan will be presented Aug. 17 to the FMCA Governing Board prior to its Summer Rally in Brunswick, Maine.

Hickman also said the FMCA needs to decide whether to appeal to younger families or “focus on the current majority membership population of active, socially interested, retired persons.”

Members of the Baby Boom generation, Hickman said, “present (an) unprecedented opportunity for introducing people to the motorhome lifestyle.”
