Dow and Nasdaq Inch Higher, RV Shares Quiet

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nasdaq composite inched higher on Friday. The Dow climbed 80 points, or 0.8%, while the Nasdaq gained 20 points, or 1.1%. Among RV company stocks, Thor experienced the most movement. Thor shares fell $1.45 on Thursday, but the stock gained $1.50, or 7%, on Friday to close at $21.75. Thor Fuel Cell Bus Venture Gets Federal Funding

A joint venture involving Thor Industries Inc., a major RV manufacturer, will get federal funding to develop hydrogen fuel cell-powered transit buses. Thor and ISE Research Corp. of San Diego are involved in a joint venture called ThunderPower, which will get $740,000 in federal funds to develop a fuel cell and hybrid electric drive system for powering 30-foot E-Z Rider low-floor transit buses built by Thor’s ElDorado National subsidiary. John Crean, the 75-year-old founder and former chairman of Fleetwood Enterprises Inc., has joined Alfa Leisure Inc., the fifth-wheel and Class A motorhome builder headed by his son, Johnnie Crean. Cali RV Dealers Want Car Dealers’ Dispute Resolution System

California RV dealers have asked their state legislature to include RVs in a dispute resolution process that has governed the relationship between automobile manufacturers and dealers in California for more than 30 years and includes mandatory binding arbitration. It is believed a hearing on the proposal will occur sometime during April in the California Senate.
