Indiana Maintains RV Output Leadership
Indiana has been the leading producer of RVs for as long as anyone can remember and the Hoosier State maintained its leadership position during 2000, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) Annual Report.
Indiana accounted for 53.1% of all RVs built last year, the RVIA reports. A distant second was California with 10.8%, followed by Pennsylvania with 9.3%, Oregon at 6.2% and Michigan at 3.8%.
However, California, the nation’s most populous state by a wide margin, was the destination to which the most RVs were shipped wholesale last year. Ten percent of all RVs were shipped to dealers in California, followed by Texas, the second-most populous state, at 6.4%. Then came Michigan with 5.7%, Florida at 4.9% and Ohio at 3.4%.
