Premier RV Resorts bought a 57-acre campground near Eugene, Ore., in April and work is underway now to develop it into a campground that has highline motorcoach owners as its target market.

Premier RV Resorts also operates a campground in Redding, Calif., and it is in negotiations to buy another RV park in Washington State, according to the Register-Guard newspaper of Eugene, Ore.

The goal of Premier RV Resorts is to have upscale RV resorts spaced about 250 miles apart along the I-5 corridor, according to Paul Williams, president of Premier RV Resorts, who was interviewed by the Register-Guard.

The company paid $1.9 million for the 57 acres it now owns along I-5 near Coburg, Ore., a suburb of Eugene and the home of Monaco Coach Corp., which recently acquired SMC Corp., another Eugene area manufacturer of highline Class A motorhomes.

Currently, Premier RV Resorts is building a 3,400-square-foot multi-use building that will include a store, reception area and a large meeting room. An in-ground pool, patio, fire circle area, sports court and a small putting course also are planned.

After buying the Oregon property, Premier RV Resorts began consolidating campground spaces to accommodate motorhomes longer than 40 feet. The campground in Eugene now has 129 spaces including 14 that are 106 feet long and 10 that are 65 feet long. The remainder are 55 feet long, according to the Register-Guard.

Another 25 to 30 spaces will be added, Williams, told the Register-Guard.

The market for Premier RV Resort’s Eugene area location is highline motorhome owners visiting to get service for their coaches and the luxury coach owners who live in the East and Midwest who want to keep their motorhome in the Eugene area. Those motorhome owners will fly to Eugene and then use their motorcoach to travel through the Northwest, Williams said.
