The owners of model year 2002 diesel pushers built on Spartan chassis now have free, 24-hour roadside assistance available to them, according to Spartan Motors Inc. of Charlotte, Mich.
The program is called Roadside Companion and it is the result of a partnership between Spartan and Coach Net, the largest automotive roadside assistance and technical support company in North America.
“Many new motorhome owners opt not to purchase a roadside assistance package when they buy their new coaches, assuming warranties will handle needed repairs,” said Zac Soderberg, Spartan’s customer assistance manager. “They don’t realize that towing a stranded coach to a repair facility isn’t covered under most warranties and can be very expensive.”
Roadside Companion service is available 24/7 anywhere in the continental U.S. and Canada. The coverage includes the following: towing and mobile mechanical assistance to the nearest qualified repair facility; delivery of up to five gallons of fuel or replacement fluids; tire change or replacement; battery jump-starts and lockout service or a replacement key.
Spartan also will send a new mobile service unit to motorhome rallies to provide diagnostics and repair service for minor problems.
The technicians traveling with the service unit will be able to connect to the Spartan factory in Michigan for diagnostic assistance. They will be able to input the chassis’ vehicle identification number (VIN) into Spartan’s data base for accurate and fast replacement parts ordering, according to the company.
