Conrad Clement, the president and CEO of Featherlite Inc., submitted an offer to buy the Featherlite Luxury Coach Division from the parent company. Terry Loomis of Roanoke, Va., is the winner of a Class A motorhome as a result of entering the contest sponsored by Gulf Stream Coach Corp. and Workhorse Custom Chassis. Bigger Dealers Average 5% Profit Increases

Larger RV dealerships averaged net profit increases of 5.3% during the first 10 months of this year, when compared with the same portion of 2000, according to The Spader Companies consultant firm. The average larger dealer, which the Spader firm defines as those with more than $5 million in annual sales, had net earnings of $472,825 during the first 10 months of 2001. By all indications, the expansion by multi-location dealership Beaudry RV into the campground sector was well-timed. Beaudry RV, with locations in Tucson and Mesa, Aria., and San Diego, Calif., opened Beaudry RV Resort in Tucson during November 2000. SunnyBrook Forms Joint Venture

Highline fifth-wheels for the full timer market might be the product built by the joint venture recently formed by SunnyBrook RV Inc. and its co-founder David Fought. A name for the new company has not been selected. Smaller Dealers See Big Profit Increases

Although some RV manufacturers have struggled, smaller dealers are enjoying sharply higher net profits in 2001, according to data gathered by the Spader Companies consultant firm. The average smaller dealership saw its net earnings increase 65.5% during the first 10 months of this year, to $149,175, the Spader firm reports. Dometic Acquires SeaLand Technology

RV and lodging industry supplier Dometic Corp. has signed an agreement with The Taylor Made Group to purchase SeaLand Technology, Inc. The purchase includes SeaLand’s custom china fixture affiliate, Norceram, based in Ingleside, Ontario. The sale should be finalized sometime in January. The terms were not revealed. Fleetwood Promotes Two Senior Execs.

Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. has promoted two of its senior executives, Boyd Plowman and Forrest Theobald. Plowman, Fleetwood’s senior vice president and CFO since October 2000, was named executive vice president on Wednesday (Dec. 19). Plowman, who worked for Fleetwood from 1973 to 1987 before re-joining the company in 1997, retains the title of CFO. The Markel Corp., a leading provider of insurance for children’s summer camps, has replaced GCU-One Beacon as the campground insurance provider for Broomfield, Colo.-based Jim Calfee Insurance, the nation’s largest campground insurance agency. Calif. Dealers Report Much Improved Sales

Two of the biggest RV dealers in California’s San Joaquin Valley, Dan Gamel and Paul Evert, experienced sharply higher sales in recent months, according to the Fresno Bee newspaper. Gamel said sales at his Dan Gamel’s RV Centers Fresno location are up 50% while sales at his Modesto location are up 25% and his Chico location is up 15%. The stocks of motorhome manufacturers Winnebago and Monaco both reached new 52-week highs today (Dec. 19) and Fleetwood, another major motorhome builder, also posted a strong gain. Investors Love Motorhome Makers

It appears a significant number of investors fell in love with the motorhome sector today (Dec. 18) after Winnebago Industries Inc. reported, a few minutes before the stock market opened, sharply higher quarterly earnings.
