Although Kit Manufacturing Co. reports its RV sales are up sharply, the company reported net losses for the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2001 and the first quarter of its fiscal year 2002. Recession Ended in Fourth Quarter

The recession ended during the fourth quarter of last year because the U.S. economy grew at a rate of 1.7% during the October-through-December period, according to Commerce Department data issued today (March 28). The 1.7% growth rate for the gross domestic product (GDP) during the fourth quarter followed a 1.3% shrinkage during the third quarter of last year, the Commerce Department reported. New Forest River Factory Planned

Forest River Inc. plans to build a new 100,000-square-foot factory in Northern Indiana, but the company has not decided whether to build RVs in the new facility, according to Jeff Rowe, spokesman. Alfa Leisure Sues Online Consumer Advocate

Alfa Leisure Inc., Chino, Calif., has sued RV Consumer Group, a nonprofit, membership dues-supported organization, for libel and defamation for publishing a consumer’s complaint on its website. DoubleTree LLC, a new subsidiary of SunnyBrook Manufacturing Inc., will begin building fifth-wheels for the “extending living to full-time” markets about 30 days from today (March 27), according to David Fought, CEO.
