Richard “Dick” Gore, 70, owner/operator of Dick Gore’s RV World, a three-location dealership with stores in Jacksonville and Coca, Fla., and Richmond Hill, Ga., passed way Thursday (April 25) at a Jacksonville hospital.
Dick Gore’s RV World, a full-service dealership, was the winner of the 1999 Circle of Excellence Customer Satisfaction Award from the Fleetwood RV Group.
Mr. Gore was involved in the RV industry for about 30 years and he founded his dealership about 20 years ago, said his son, Richard R. Gore, who now is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the business.
“I plan to keep doing what we’ve been doing, he had a winning formula,” Richard R. Gore said.
His family described Mr. Gore as “a man of integrity,” according to the Florida Times-Union of Jacksonville.
Mr. Gore was actively involved at his dealership until mid-April when he suffered a stroke from which he never recovered, according to his son.
Until then, Mr. Gore worked from 8:15 a.m. to around 6:30 p.m. every day except Sundays, Richard R. Gore said.
“He always said, you don’t own the business, the business owns you,” according to his son.
