Dealer Profits Up, Inventories Smaller

RV dealer net profits were up substantially when the first five months of this year are compared with the same portion of 2001, despite smaller new RV unit inventories as of the end of May at small and mid-size dealerships, according to consultant firm Spader Business Management. Fleetwood Stock Hits New 52-week Low

The hiring of a trucking industry executive to be Fleetwood’s new president and CEO did not prevent the New York Stock Exchange-listed company’s shares from sinking to a new 52-week low today (July 26). Monaco’s 2Q Net Income Doubled

Monaco Coach Corp. reports its second quarter net income doubled to $11 million and its sales revenue during the three months ended June 29 climbed 40% higher to $313.7 million. The hefty increases occurred in an economic environment that Monaco Chairman and CEO Kay Toolson described as challenging. Monaco Buys Motorhome Resort Real Estate

Monaco Coach Corp. has reached an agreement in principle to buy the real estate and other assets of three proposed luxury motorcoach resort properties in Las Vegas, Nev., Indio, Calif., and Naples, Fla. The seller is Outdoor Resorts of America (ORA), which will continue to concentrate on the development of the properties along with site management and lot sales. Class A motorhome manufacturer Damon Corp. believes its online salesperson training program is a success, but the Elkhart, Ind.-based company now is planning to conduct a more traditional national dealer meeting during the summer of 2003, according to Gary Groom, RV Division president and CEO.
