The 2004 schedule for RV lifestyle advocate Gaylord Maxwell’s Life on Wheels (LOW) conferences – popular programs focusing on education and networking for individuals interested in full-time RVing – includes four U.S. sites.
In its 10th year, LOW – underwritten by nearly 50 industry-related companies – will host the first of its “satellite” sessions May 14-16 at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky.
Traditionally, the largest and main weeklong event takes place July 11-16 at the University of Idaho in Moscow, a community of 20,000 in which Maxwell’s conferences were first launched a decade ago. During the Idaho conference, attendees with RVs may opt for electrical and water service or for dry camping, and those without RVs may stay at the nearby University Inn or other motels.
“There will be over 150 different seminars presented by a Life on Wheels faculty of about 50 of the leading experts on RVs and the RV lifestyle,” states Maxwell.
Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Iowa, is the site of an Aug. 27-30 session, while a new location has been announced for LOW’s late summer event, an Aug. 6-9 confab at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pa.
The Bethlehem site replaces the former Harrisburg Community College venue. LOW concentrates its seminars on the lifestyle (fulltiming, choosing an RV, boondocking, etc.), technical aspects (performance, solar power, gas vs. diesel, etc.), and lifestyle enhancement (RV cooking, digital photography, healthy travel, etc.). Attendees choose from over a dozen seminars each period at the “satellite” schools, Bowling Green, Des Moines and Bethlehem.
“Life on Wheels programs are unlike RV club, association or commercial rallies,” says Maxwell. “There are no vendors and no RV displays. It is not a commercial event with seminars as sidelights. The seminars are the main event.”
