Kampgrounds of America, Inc. (KOA) will begin accepting reservations Monday (March 1) for its first-ever “Come Camp With Us” day on May 14th.
More than 20,000 campsites will be made available free of charge, according to Woodall’s Campground Management, a sister publication of RVBUSINESS.com.
“It’s a no-strings-attached giveway,” said Mike Gast, communications director for KOA, Billings, Mont., which was cited recently in two prominent magazines as one of the nation’s leading franchisors. “It’s just a gift early in the season, a way to get people camping sooner.”
The RV and tent camping sites can be reserved by accessing KOA’s website at www.koa.com.
Gast said about 300 of KOA’s nearly 500 parks across the U.S. and Canada will be participating in the giveaway, which could become an annual event. An undetermined number of Kamping Kabins also will be made available for free as part of the promotion, which is intended to help boost KOA’s shoulder-season business and to introduce more people in general to the camping experience.
Not only was KOA cited nationally as a leading franchisor, it also was recognized for its efforts to provide campgrounds with wireless Internet access, also called Wi-Fi.
KOA, in January, was ranked 226th in Entrepreneur magazine’s annual listing of the nation’s top 500 franchise organizations. The popular campground chain also was included in Infoworld magazine’s December edition listing the nation’s top 100 technical projects.
Infoworld cited KOA for its efforts to bring Wi-Fi service to its campgrounds. KOA is working with Salt Lake City-based Ikano Communications to provide Wi-Fi service.
