Minnesota Campground Changes Hands
A recently retired fire chief from suburban Minneapolis and his wife have purchased the Pipestone RV Campground in Pipestone, Minn., near the South Dakota border, the Pipestone County Star reports.
The buyers are Kevin and Ronda McGinty of St. Louis Park, Minn., and the sellers are Carl and Nancy Cowan.
McGinty had been a fire chief for 28 years, most recently in Richfield, Minn. He retired effective Tuesday (April 27). His wife was a special-education teacher the past five years in Bloomington, Minn. The couple has five grown children.
The McGintys like the idea of operating a seasonal business and they were attracted to the campground’s location near the Pipestone National Monument.
They stayed at the campground in August and started the process of buying the property at that time.
“We love the community, things are going on all the time,” Kevin McGinty told the newspaper. “We like the size and being connected to the community. We’re outdoor people and people people. This business is perfect for that.”
