KOA Chain Continues to Experience Growth

Focused on bringing quality campgrounds into its system, Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) added another 19 campgrounds to its franchise network in the past 12 months, the Billings, Mont., company reported in December.
Campgrounds were added in 12 states and four Canadian provinces. In addition, four KOA Kampgrounds have been built from the ground up.
“We’ve seen a substantial level of growth in the number of independent campgrounds who want to fly the KOA yellow flag,” stated Jim Rogers, KOA president and CEO.  “With the increased level of support and programs we’re offering our franchisees, we know our KOA system will continue to grow.”
KOA Kampgrounds added in 2003-2004 include Jacksonville N/ Kingsland, Ga.; Valdosta/Lake Park, Ga.; Rock Island/Quad Cities, Ill.; Freeport/Durham, Maine; Emmett, Mich.; Carlsbad, N.M.; Las Cruces, N. M.; New Bern, N.C.; Elizabethtown/Hershey, Pa.; Lake Livingston/Onalaska, Texas; Concrete/Grandy Creek, Wash.; Clearwater/Wells Gray, B.C., Canada; Seal Island/N. Sydney, N.S., Canada; Gallup, N.M.; Shallotte, N.C. (newly constructed); Pine Grove, Pa. (newly constructed); Hinton/Jasper, Alberta, Canada (newly constructed).
KOA anticipates adding more new franchisees in 2005, with franchise parks already planned for opening at Clewiston/Lake Okeechobee, Fla.; Smithfield, N.C.; Streetsboro/Cleveland SE, Ohio; Crossville, Tenn.; Rusk, Texas; and Gros Morne/Norris Point, N.F., Canada.
