National RV Inc. has redesigned its Dolphin gas-powered Class A motorhome for the 2006 model year with new front and rear caps, ergonomically designed padded vinyl dashboards and improved cockpit window visibility. “This is the first major restyling of the Dolphin since 2001, and from an engineering point, the first significant change since 1993,” said Joe McDermott, vice president of sales and marketing for the Perris, Calif.-based manufacturer. “Some fundamental changes have occurred in design and somewhat in construction.” The new Dolphin, available in lengths of 32-37 feet with three double- and one triple-slideout floorplans, was previewed June 16-17 for about 150 people attending the National RV Holding Co. subsidiary’s annual dealer meeting at the Sheraton Harbor Island, San Diego, Calif. The 2006 Dolphin is equipped with 82″ interior ceilings – three inches higher than before – wider entry doors, padded vinyl ceilings and automotive styling in the front and rear caps. Features include new contoured aluminum luggage doors with a new hinge system, a larger cockpit area, resized service compartment access doors, new horizontal galley windows with taller overhead galleys and new overhead structures in the cockpit that tie the walls and ceiling together to reduce flex and racking. Built standard on a 22,000-pound GVWR Ford Super Duty F53 chassis and equipped with a 362-hp Triton V10 engine, the Dolphin’s base suggested retail price is $118,000.
