Winnebago Industries, Inc. showcased its new 2006 Winnebago and Itasca brand motorhomes during the Forest City, Iowa-based manufacturer’s Dealer Days event held July 24-27 at The Mirage in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Unveiled to the 708 dealer personnel in attendance were 94 ’06 models, 54% percent of which, according to the company, are “brand new or redesigned.”
In an effort to enhance its presence in the diesel market, Winnebago introduced a mid-level product to its 2006 diesel lineup: The Winnebago Tour and Itasca Ellipse companion lines, which project “a striking appearance” inside and out with bold exterior full-body paint designs and enhanced interior heights of 7 feet 2 1/2 inches, as well as increased height in the sliderooms of 6 feet 2 inches. Four 36- to 40-foot models are available. These new pushers are built on the Evolution(TM) chassis, which is offered exclusively to Winnebago Industries by Freightliner Custom Chassis, creating “a strong, durable platform with more usable storage than in a conventional raised rail chassis, as well as excellent driving performance and comfort.”
Winnebago Industries’ top-of-the-line Winnebago Vectra and Itasca Horizon Class A diesel lines were also redesigned with increased interior height of 7 feet 2 1/2 inches for 2006. Available in three models, the 40FD model features a front entertainment center with optional fireplace.
Winnebago’s Adventurer and Itasca Suncruiser gas-fueled Class A’s were also redesigned for ’06, with seven models including a new 38T featuring 365 square feet of living space — a feat made possible by the addition of opposing 17-foot-6-inch flat floor slideouts on either side of the coach for a full 35 feet of slideout area for greatly enhanced interior livability. The Adventurer and Suncruiser also feature increased interior height of 7 feet 2 1/2 inches inside.
Winnebago, at the same time, expanded its Class C lineup for 2006 with the debut of an entry-level Winnebago Outlook/Itasca Spirit in lengths of 22 to 32 feet, most sporting either one or two slideouts. The Outlook/Spirit line includes a new 25-foot model with a rear galley and bathroom and a sofa/refrigerator slideout.
A new Chevy cutaway chassis option, a new platform marketed by Workhorse Custom Chassis, is also available for 2006 on most models and provides a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 14,050-lbs.
At Dealer Days, Winnebago also honored 192 of its dealers who achieved the prestigious Circle of Excellence status for high buyer satisfaction levels.
