Quartzsite RV Show Expecting Big Turnout
The concentration of rock and mineral shows, swap meets and flea markets annually draws tens of thousands of RVers to the small desert hamlet of Quartzsite, Ariz., during the winter months.
One of the largest and most popular of the local venues is the Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show, which is held in the “Big Tent”, 1/2 mile south of Interstate 10 on State Highway 95.
The 2006 event, slated for Jan. 21-29, marks the 23rd year for the show and organizers say it will be the largest gathering to date.
“We turned away well over 100 exhibitors last year due to lack of booth space,” said promoter Kenny King, noting there was no charge for admission or parking. “In 2006 we are increasing the square footage of the main structure by 40%. This not only allows us to accommodate 128 additional booths, it increases our aisle width to 13 feet from 10 feet. This will really help in respect to traffic flow and safety.”
Attendance was estimated at well over 150,000 for the last show, which included a host of RV-related displays along with hundeds of new and used vehicles and a dozen service bays offering immediate installation, repairs and service.
