Although the name might indicate otherwise, Dutchmen Manufacturing Inc.’s new Wild Thing sport utility towable (SURV) line features a more traditional interior than most toy haulers. “We jacked it up on the inside as far as looks to try to stay away from the stereotypical SURV that has the red, white and black NASCAR type feel on the interior,” said Brent Stevens, general manager for the Goshen, Ind., manufacturer’s Aerolite Division. Wild Thing, which recently debuted at the Pennsylvania RV and Camping Show in Hershey, Pa., features cherry cabinets, stainless steel appliances, brushed nickel fixtures, a large bathroom and optional electric, drop-down, rear queen beds. Wild Thing is available in four travel trailer and two fifth-wheel floorplans with a standard garage area open to the rest of the coach that is 14-feet 7-inches deep and can be extended an additional four feet. A “beaver tail” design affords an 11-degree ramp angle. “The advantage is that regardless of the size or your bike, it’s going to go into the garage without bottoming out,” Stevens said. With an aluminum superstructure, Wild Thing features laminated “glufiber” sidewalls and standard full body paint. Retail prices start at $16,000.
