Northwood Manufacturing Inc., LaGrande, Ore., introduced the entry-level Northwind travel trailer series at the recently concluded Pennsylvania RV and Camping Show in Hershey, Pa. The wood-and-aluminum Northwind features five floorplans – two with single slideouts – in lengths of 20 to 33 feet. “First-time buyers these days have a lot of kids, so the vast majority of floorplans have bunk bends to sleep anywhere from four to six people,” said Dave Partlow, general manager of Northwood’s plant in Winchester, Va. “We’ve taken out a lot of the amenities that we have in our other products in order to get to an entry-level price.” Northwood’s other RVs include Nash and Arctic Fox conventional towables and Desert Fox sport utility travel trailers and fifth-wheels (SURVs). Northwind base retail prices start at $12,000.
