Motorized RV builder National RV Inc., Perris, Calif., has reintroduced the Surf Side Class A brand – dormant since 2001 – as an entry-level gas-powered motorhome. The new Surf Side, featuring four floorplans in lengths of 29 to 34 feet with either one or two slideouts, debuted this week at the 43rd Annual National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky. “The most important thing about this is that it marks National RV’s re-entry into the value-priced Class A segment that has really been booming over the last 12 months,” said Joe McDermott, vice president of sales and marketing. “We have not been playing in that market.” With a base retail price of $85,000, Surf Side’s entry door is located just forward of the rear axle, which opens up the front of the coach, according to McDermott. Built on either an 18,000- or 20,000-pound GVWR Ford Super Duty chassis and equipped with a 362-hp Triton V10 gasoline engine, Surf Side sports 6-foot 10-inch interior ceilings, rear caps with integrated windows and side-hinged compartment doors.
