Jayco Inc. recently marked the production of the 500,000th RV since the company’s founding in 1968 with ceremonies at Jayco factories in Middlebury Ind., and Twin Falls, Idaho. Pictured are Derald Bontrager, president and COO; Bertha Bontrager Rhodes, chairperson emeritus; and Wilbur Bontrager, chairman and CEO, with Jayco’s Jay Series folding camping trailer and Jay Flight travel trailer in the background. Each of Jayco’s 1,500 employees received a special hat that marked the 500,00th unit rolling off the production line on March 19, along with a booklet explaining the values, goals and mission of the traditional northern Indiana company at which a significant number of Mennonite and Old Order Amish are employed. “The day was a real success,” said Derald Bontrager. We were able to talk to all the members of our staff and encourage them to keep up the good work. It is important that we make it clear to all of them the role they play in our success.”
