Bristol, Ind.-based supplier Fabric Services announced today (July 27) the acquisition of Abercrombie Textiles LLC, a textile mill located in Shelby, N.C., effective July 1.
“Along with the acquisition of Flame Treat in 2005, the purchase of Abercrombie is part of a continuing plan to expand our vertically-integrated product and service offerings,” said John Regan, CEO of Fabric Services, in a press release. “This is an exciting opportunity that will help Fabric Services bring more American-made or finished textiles into the marketplace. Our combined customers will have more textiles to choose from with unique designs and faster delivery times.”
According to Regan, Abercrombie has already added workers at the Shelby facility, and anticipates continued growth. “We were able to save the jobs of all Abercrombie’s current employees and we hope to continue expanding as sales increase,” he said. “We also anticipate an increased sales and support staff at our Indiana location.”
Founded in 1982, Abercrombie is a weaver and finisher of flat-woven, decorative fabrics. Within it’s finishing operation, Abercrombie Textiles can apply latex coatings and various specialty treatments such as stain guards and water repellents to a wide variety of fabrics.
Fabric Services supplies the RV, automotive, transportation, heavy truck, furniture and specialty markets.
