The campground sector’s first national conference for investors and developers — The RV Park & Campground Investment Conference — will take place Oct. 17-19 at the McLean Hotel in McLean, Va.
“The idea here is to recognize and provide a forum for people who are actively pursuing investments in the campground industry,” said David Gorin of McLean-based David Gorin & Associates, a nationally known campground consulting firm that is organizing the conference with Ventura, Calif.-based Affinity Group Inc. (AGI), whose holdings include Woodall’s Campground Management and RVBusiness magazine.
“We’re very excited about this,” said Grant Miller, president of AGI’s membership clubs division. “We see this as a groundbreaking event that will help address the development and redevelopment of RV parks.”
Indeed, state and national campground industry conventions typically focus on operational and marketing issues, but not opportunities for developers and investors, Gorin said.
The RV Park & Campground Investment Conference, however, will provide a forum for everyone interested in investing in campgrounds and RV resorts, including investors, developers, professional park owners and lenders.
Commercial real estate brokers and management companies as well as insurance and business service companies will also be invited to attend.
Conference sessions will focus on a variety of topics, including the revitalization of existing parks; the conversion of existing parks to condo-style resorts; membership and timeshare resort models; park model dealership operations; brands and branding; and the reduction of park risks and insurance premiums. Roundtable discussions involving lenders, park owners and investors are also being scheduled.
The conference is expected to draw about 100 attendees as well as top representatives from prominent campground and RV industry trade associations, including the American Recreation Coalition (ARC), the National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (ARVC), the Recreational Park Trailer Industry Association (RPTIA) and the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).
Registration information is available at www.parkinvestmentconference.com or by calling David Gorin at (703) 448-6863 or emailing him at david@davidgorinassociates.com. Reservations will be accepted beginning Aug. 1.
The Oct. 17-19 investors’ conference is a unique event not to be confused with AGI’s 2008 RV Resort & Campground Conference & Expo, which is slated for Jan. 22-24.
