FreedomRoads/Camping World recently announced a partnership with Featherlite Luxury Coaches Inc., designating the national dealer network as the conversion bus builder’s exclusive sales and service outlet. Reopened Ohio Fleetwood Plant Going Strong

Less than two years after reopening to manufacture trailers for victims of Hurricane Katrina, Fleetwood Enterprises Inc.’s plant in Edgerton, Ohio, is going strong. The Greater Fort Wayne (Ind.) Business Weekly reports that after finishing the Katrina orders, the plant returned to making lightweight travel trailers. An individual online study course will soon be available for service technicians designed to prepare them for certification. The interactive online course, set to launch Feb. 25, was developed by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) and is available through the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association’s (RVDA) Education Foundation’s RV Learning Center. National RV Closes Operations, Lays Off Workers

Perris, Calif.-based National RV Holdings Inc. this morning (Nov. 30) shut down its headquarters and main production facility and laid off all its employees, according to a report in the Press-Enterprise, Riverside, Calif. The paper said that around 600 employees received layoff notices today. National RV Holdings, parent to motorhome builder National RV Inc., has lost money every year since 2002 equaling more than $80 million during that period. U.S. Economy Has Strong Summer

The economy barreled ahead in the summer, growing at a 4.9% pace. The performance was the strongest in four years, but isn’t expected to last through the current quarter amid the continuing housing slump and credit crunch, according to The Associated Press. A suburban New Orleans motorcycle and motorhome dealer is again facing $46,000 in fines for selling new travel trailers to a government agency without a proper license in the weeks following Hurricane Katrina. Shares of recreational vehicle makers were mixed Tuesday on Wall Street as favorable October shipment results were weighed down by a less-than-anticipated first-quarter performance from Thor Industries Inc., according to The Associated Press. Total RV shipments climbed 1.8% last month, while motorhome shipments grew 4.5 percent, according to data from the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA). Cummins Introduces 650-HP Diesel Engine

Cummins Inc. introduced a new 650-horsepower diesel engine for luxury motorhomes, the ISX 650, at the National RV Show in Louisville, Ky., on Tuesday (Nov. 26).
