Family-owned TrailManor Inc., Lake City, Tenn., manufacturer of unique cantilevered RVs that span the folding camping trailer and conventional travel trailer arenas, is marking its 25th anniversary in 2008 with a special edition option package. Founded in 1983 by metallurgical engineer William J. Hulsey, who remains company president, TrailManor trailers features a one-of-a-kind design that took Hulsey 12 years to refine and which has yet to be duplicated. In the travel mode, TrailManor measures 5 feet 3 inches high. Open, it offers 6 feet 4 inches of headroom. During setup, upper walls rise from a stored position, pivoting to form either a bedroom or a living room at each end of the unit. The manual cantilevered lift system requires no more energy than needed to open an automobile trunk, according to the company. Inside, hinged cabinets lift and slide into place, and split doors latch together. The $3,000 25th Anniversary Edition option has special black, silver and burgundy exterior graphics and a medallion, leather sofas, wood-grain floors, marble-look countertops, alloy wheels and exterior LED lighting. Built on custom chassis in lengths of 26 to 33 feet, TrailManor’s base retail prices start at about $24,000.
