South Florida RV Dealers Hit Hard by the Recession

The recession has hit RV dealerships in South Florida harder than in most areas of the nation. A year ago, nine dealers were selling new motorhomes or towable trailers on the Treasure Coast and in Okeechobee County. Four have since closed their doors, according to TCPalm, West Palm Beach. The newly formed, 3,000-member Fleetwood Motorhome Association (FMA) wraps up its first rally today (June 30) at the CAM-Plex in Gillette, Wyo., with the hope that it won’t also be its last. The Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association of Canada (RVDA of Canada) has released the results of its 2008 Warranty and Parts Survey. The trade group had 97 dealers, nationally, respond to the survey, which examined warranty and labor rates, warranty parts and handling as well as rated manufacturers in terms of their overall support, according to the association’s current newsletter.
