Responding to the critical need to improve financing options for RV dealers and their customers, the RV Learning Center is assembling a series of workshops focusing on retail and wholesale financing issues for the 2009 RV Dealers International Convention/Expo, scheduled for Oct. 6-9 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. South Florida RV Dealers Hit Hard by the Recession

The recession has hit RV dealerships in South Florida harder than in most areas of the nation. A year ago, nine dealers were selling new motorhomes or towable trailers on the Treasure Coast and in Okeechobee County. Four have since closed their doors, according to TCPalm, West Palm Beach. Keystone Introduces Swing-Away Hidden Garage

Keystone’s RV Inc.’s Fuzion division has introduced a new 383 floorplan — the Hidden Garage — which features a swing-away bulkhead wall that easily converts the garage of the towable SURV into a luxury living zone. When the Fuzion 383 garage is in use to haul large, bulky items like motorcycles or ATVs, the swing-away wall locks flat against the sidewall creating maximum storage space. Fleetwood Motorhome Owners Converge on Wyoming

The newly formed, 3,000-member Fleetwood Motorhome Association (FMA) wraps up its first rally today (June 30) at the CAM-Plex in Gillette, Wyo., with the hope that it won’t also be its last. Some 405 coaches were registered for the rally June 27-30 with attendance of about 900, including about 50 children who were there with their parents or grandparents. Forest River Chaparral Fiver Features 90-Degree Pivot

Forest River Inc.’s Coachmen RV division has redesigned the 2010 mid-profile Chaparral fifth-wheel with a new fiberglass front cap that allows the coach to pivot 90 degrees from the tow vehicle. “We call it ‘TurnTec engineering,”’ said Fred Hershberger, sales manager for the Chaparral, one of the first new products offered by the Coachmen division since Forest River purchased it from Coachmen Industries Inc. in December. RVDA of Canada Releases 2008 Dealer Survey Results

The Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association of Canada (RVDA of Canada) has released the results of its 2008 Warranty and Parts Survey. The trade group had 97 dealers, nationally, respond to the survey, which examined warranty and labor rates, warranty parts and handling as well as rated manufacturers in terms of their overall support, according to the association’s current newsletter. Thor Industries Inc. and Winnebago Industries Inc. moved into a dead heat for first place in retail sales of motorhomes through April, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc., Grand Rapids, Mich.
