Roadtrek SS IdealCanadian van camper builder Roadtrek Motorhomes Inc., Kitchener, Ontario, has engineered a Sprinter chassis-based Class B motorhome with a slideout. The 3-foot-deep slide in Roadtrek’s new 20-foot SS-Ideal motorhome extends from the rear door opening and contains a convertible queen sofa. The SS-Ideal is built on the high-mileage 8,550-pound GVWR Sprinter 2500 chassis equipped with a 154-hp six-cylinder Mercedes-Benz diesel engine. ”The SS Ideal has the livability of a coach that is 3 feet longer, but it’s still only 20 feet long when it’s being driven,” said President Jeff Hanemaayer, who reported Roadtrek sold 19 SS-Ideals the first day of the Louisville Show. ”It appeals to our typical target market — the soon-to-be-retired and up.” Nonetheless, Hanemaayer predicted, the SS-Ideal may open a new market for Roadtrek. ”This definitely will appeal to a whole range of buyers who typically buy Class C motorhomes,” he said. MSRP: $97,110.

I own a SS-Agile. This version is a nice gimmick, but I would not want it. You have to use the slide in order to sleep in it. I have stopped at some places where I did not want anyone to know that I was sleeping in back. That would not be possible with this version. If I wanted the bigger bathroom and somewhat more room I would just buy the RS-Adventurous
