The newly formed RV Sustainability Coalition invites interested RV industry members to participate in its launch meeting on Jan. 29. The coalition is a voluntary alliance of business leaders committed to sustainable business practices through the process of education, collaboration and innovation, according to an article in the current issue of RVIA Today Express.

Watch a brief overview on the coalition on today’s featured video.

The Coalition Leadership team encourages RV industry members to learn more about the group by visiting www.sustainablerv.com. The site offers prospective members information on the coalition, its directives and also serves as a general resource on sustainable manufacturing practices.

The coalition leadership team says, “as a member of the sustainability coalition, you will gain access to a powerful network of member firms, thought leaders, peers and stakeholders – all focused on creating viable sustainability solutions.”

The RV Sustainability Coalition invites RV manufacturers, suppliers and dealers to get involved. Also encouraged to engage are any businesses, community and civic leaders and consumers that desire to learn more about sustainability practices.

I am a big RV fan, and my husband and I are planning our 6th large trip by RV to the West Coast with our four children. I am also a mid-career graduate student taking a course on Sustainable Tourism toward a Sustainability and Environmental Management degree. My selected project for this course is a look at some environmental impacts of the RV industry and find ways to introduce sustainable practices at RV parks. I am not considering manufacturing issues such as lighter vehicles and green technologies at this time.

The sustainableRV web-site listed above does not come up, and I suspect the idea was dropped (lack of interest?). Nonetheless, I very much would like to talk to anyone with an opinion on this issue for my research. My intentions are honest in this regard, as RVing offers so many benefits people are unaware of. I will also be happy to share my research with your industry when it is completed.

Please contact me at your convenience at the above e-mail or at lptomasso@comcast.net.
    Thank you in advance,
    Linda Powers Tomasso
