RVIA: February Wholesale Shipments Up 95%

Here’s some good news to end your week: RV shipments were up in February. Way up. RV wholesale shipments to dealers were reported at 20,100 units in the February survey of manufacturers, an increase of 27% over last month and 95% greater than this same month one year ago, the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) reported today (March 26). Monaco RV LLC announced the addition of three more Holiday Rambler towable dealers. A New Orleans jury took less than three hours on Monday (March 29) to reject a man’s claim that toxic levels of formaldehyde in a FEMA trailer where he lived for two years after Hurricane Katrina caused a benign throat tumor and made him vomit blood, according to the Courthouse News Service. Jury Clears Forest River in Formaldehyde Case

A federal jury on Monday (March 29) rejected a New Orleans man’s claims that government contractors provided him with a trailer after Hurricane Katrina that exposed him to dangerous fumes, dealing another blow to those suing the trailer makers, according to the Associated Press. The Wisconsin Association of Campground Owners (WACO) Convention was held March 18-21 at Stevens Point, Wis., with 281 people representing 105 campgrounds attending. Wayne Davis and David Disiere of Fort Worth, Texas-based DADI LLC have announced the acquisition of Tuscany, the leading manufacturer of specialty vehicles, including luxury vans, personal use mobility vans, hotel shuttle vans and specialty trucks. Heartland Adding Facilities and Jobs in Elkhart

Heartland Recreational Vehicles LLC announced Monday I(March 29)  that it will expand its operations in Elkhart, Ind., creating up to 265 new jobs by 2013, according to a state government news release. The company, which manufactures fifth-wheel, lightweight and extended stay RVs, will invest more than $2.6 million to purchase and equip a 125,000-square-foot manufacturing facility formerly used by Damon Corp.
