Three representatives of the U.S. RV and campground industries tour the Hangzhou International Outdoor and Leisure Fair in Hangzhou, China, that got underway today (March 4). The U.S. delegation includes Joe Laing from El Monte RV, (holding briefcase at left); Al Hesselbart (right), historian at the RV/MH Hall of Fame Museum in Elkhart, Ind.; and Bob MacKinnon (background, holding red bag), owner of MacKinnon Campground Consulting, Murietta, Calif. The trio spoke today during a forum at the fair. The Beijing Auto Camping Association (BACA) is a co-organizer of the Hangzhou Auto camping and RV forum. BACA representatives visited the National RV Trade Show last December in Louisville, Ky.
Below are several Chinese-made Class B motorhomes on display at the fair. Though the RV industry in China is still at
its preliminary stage, the Chinese people are beginning to accept the campground and RV concept. The U.S. delegation took part in a parade that wound through the Hangzhou city streets leading up to today’s opening.
