Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell has proclaimed the month of June as Recreation Vehicle and Camping Month in Pennsylvania. Bear Shakes RV, Shreds Tent in Alaska Campground

Park rangers near Fairbanks, Alaska, are asking campers and picnickers to be careful after a bear shredded an empty tent at Chena Lake Recreation Area and later rocked a small RV back and forth while a person was inside, according to the Juneau Empire. AAA: Memorial Day Travel Will Rise 5.2% Over ’09

More Americans will hit the highways and airports over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, but they’ll probably spend much less than last year, according to a study released Thursday by AAA. The travel group said about 32.1 million people are expected to take trips during the final weekend in May. RV wholesale deliveries to retailers were reported at 24,600 units in the April 2010 survey of manufacturers, up 2.5% over March 2010 and up 85% from this same month one year ago, the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) reported today (May 26). Total shipments in April were at their highest level in two years. Seasonally adjusted they represented an annualized rate of nearly 250,000 units.
