Retail sales of towable RVs in Canada rose 23.9% in April, Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI) has announced  in its inaugural Canadian sales report to The sales increase was recorded across most segments, with travel trailer sales up 29.6%, fifth-wheel sales up 17.4%, camping trailer sales off 2.6% and park model sales up 62.5%. A fleet of recreational vehicles and their owners were calling the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Du Quoin home Sunday (June 27). A top executive with General Electric Co.’s commercial finance arm says that wholesale borrowing by U.S. dealers of recreational vehicles rebounded in the first half of 2010, a sign the industry may be on the mend after enduring a five-year slump that pushed some manufacturers and many more retailers out of business. Jury Rules Against Goodyear in ’04 RV Crash

A Pasco County, Fla., Circuit Court jury Friday afternoon (June 25) returned a $5.6 million verdict against the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for selling a defective tire that had been marketed to recreational motorhome manufacturers, even though the tire was not suitable for RV use, according to a news release from the plaintiffs’ lawyer. Editor’s Note: Robert W. Baird & Co. issued a client advisory following the release of the May wholesale RV shipments report by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA). Excerpts from the Baird advisory follow. Action May shipments improve 92%. The robust wholesale RV recovery continued in May with an 88% increase in towable shipments and a 136% increase in motorhomes.
