Stat Surveys: June Motorhome Sales Off 5.1%
Retail sales of motorized RVs were down 5.1% in June, compared to June 2009, Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI) has reported.
The June summary shows Class A sales were down 15.7% while Class C sales were up 8.9%.
Year-to-date, all motorhome sales are off the 2009 pace by a scant 0.8%, or less than 100 vehicles. Class A sales for the year are off 7.9%, while Class C sales were up 8.6%.
Thor Industries Inc. won a four-way battle for top spot among all motorhome sales with an 18.7% market share in June, followed by Winnebago Industries Inc. with 16.4%, Fleetwood RV LLC with a 14.3% share and Forest River Inc. with 14.2%. With Coachmen RV sales added in, Forest River’s share amounted to 24.1%.
In Class A sales, Fleetwood led the way with a 17.7% share, followed by Winnebago at 17.5%, Tiffin Motor Homes Inc. at 17.4% and Thor at 14.4%. Forest River/Coachmen combined totaled 14.7%.
In Class C sales, Thor had a 23% share, followed by Forest River with 18.8%, Winnebago 15.2% and Coachmen 14.8%. Forest River/Coachmen combined totaled 33.6%.
