Dutchmen Intros Upscale Voltage Toyhauler

2011 Voltage SURV by Dutchmen Manufacturing Inc.
Dutchmen Manufacturing Inc., Goshen, Ind., introduced the all-new Voltage high-end fifth-wheel SURV during the Tulsa Boat, Sport and Travel Show Aug. 27-29 in Tulsa, Okla. ”We wanted to build a toy hauler that is different than anything on the market; we wanted to cut a different path,” said Nate Goldenberg, Dutchmen’s Voltage and Denali product manager. ”We tried to pay attention to the essentials that traditional RVs have.” Available in four 35- to 43-foot widebody floorplans with two or three 7 1/2-foot-tall electric slideouts, the fiberglass-and-aluminum Voltage features pass-through storage with slam-latch doors. The upscale toy hauler also is equipped with residential-style amenities such as walk-in closets, large microwaves, four-door refrigerators, floor-to-ceiling pantries and stainless steel sinks. While the front bedroom houses 6-foot 5-inch ceilings, the 14-foot-deep garage sports 30- and 20-gallon fuel tanks. With an exterior entertainment center equipped with a 26-inch LCD TV and stereo with speakers, the Voltage base MSRP ranges from $58,000 to $76,000. The first Voltage was sold to Wade’s RV Clinic, Sapulpa, Okla. Meanwhile, a travel trailer version of the SURV to be called the Rubicon will debut in November at the 48th Annual National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky. Dealers will have an opportunity to see the Voltage Sept. 27-30 during the Dutchmen Open House in Goshen, the kick off party for which is on the evening of Monday, Sept. 27
I like how they call this a high end…..26″ LCD TV means budget if you ask me.
Maybe a big budget… I have one on my lot. It has four tv’s. The 26″ TV is just the exterior one. The main LCD is 40″.
As the description says “With an exterior entertainment center equipped with a 26-inch LCD TV and stereo with speakers”. The key word being “exterior”. Not so bad for an outside tv. Waiting for my dealer to get one in so we can compare to a Fuzion 322 toruing edition. Wifey loves the bathroom layout on this Voltage. We did get to see several interior pics of this puppy.
I work on the production line running the VOLTAGE. I can tell you that there is very good quality going into these units, not to mention the time it takes to get everything just right. The VOLTAGE is not just another slap together RV.
Just another 65k unit that will not sell!!!! just taking there sister products business away, Raptor Fuzion!! For every 10 Rv Business articles 9 are Thor, wonder why?? Hmm!!! There are more than just Thor Products or Fast Food Products out there to talk about..complete conflict of interest!!
Good luck with the Voltage. The name is very fitting for the market.
Good luck in Louisville! Hope this can help you keep your workers working.
Hey Joe…what are the top selling Toy Haulers again? Raptor, #1, Fuzion, #2…and it makes a lot of sense when you state that it’s “just another $65k unit that will not sell.” Call me crazy, but the last time I looked, 3 of the top 10 selling FIFTH WHEELS in the market place were toy haulers in this price point. Hmmmm…I think you must be a Forest River dealer! And, the reason there is so much press on THOR? Well, they own over 50% of the towable market…figure it out….
Just saw one in Hershey Pa at the RV show today.
If it was available last year I may have been in this instead of my 3950 Heartland.
Anyone want to buy a 2010 3950 Heartland Cyclone!
Hey Wallace,
What don’t you like about your 3950?
I walked thru the Voltage 3900 at the Dallas RV show today. It is obvious that the unit was a reworked Fuzion. Their first 2 models out the door will be 14′ garages. The wife just does not want to give up all that living space for what is even now more of a garage!
Statistics show that the average TH buyer is in the 50 years old range yet they still can’t seem to get it that the wife has a significant input on the buying decision. More garage space is not what the wife wants!!
I don’t know how anyone elses ‘wife’ feels, but this one LOVES the new Voltage! We saw it at the Hershey RV show, first thing, and everything else we saw paled in comparison. The Voltage has the WOW factor. We loved it so much, we ordered one – trading in our Newmar Cypress. The ‘garage’ can be used for living space, when it’s not hauling the Harley – It’ll be our ‘florida room’, while the garage door, when down, reverts to our new ‘deck’. Waaayyy more living space than our 38′ Cypress.
I saw one of these at the PA show over the weekend and I have to say that I absolutely loved it. We are buying for a specific lot that has a limit of 42 feet and the Voltage comes in at 42.7. I’m just not willing to take chances on being forced to move my RV due to 7 inches so we went with the Fuzion.
We have two kids ages 6 and 9 and I love that the “garage” also has so much potential for living space. Not to mention that the bedroom in the Voltage could just not be beat. It was roomy and well done. You could actually walk around the bed! And the bathroom was great too. I think that the more Toy Haulers that are shown to families the more they will sell. Most women do not instantly think of the “garage” as having great family space but they do.
While I regret those extra 7 inches I am looking forward to enjoying our new Fuzion 360.
Just got back from the Sand Show in So Cal and thought we had are minds set on a Fuzion 398 until we saw the Voltage. My wife loves the kitchen layout and the super tall ceilings and slides. Bedroom is tall and easy to get around in with good storage and a nice closet plus the tv is more built in as the Fuzion has it hanging in the corner. One of the cabinet doors in the Fuzion does not even open all the way and hits the other cabinet. As far as the garage goes we travel with (5) atv’s and I think we need the 14 footer to carry that many. Don’t know what to get now will have to look close at price and weight comparison. I also need a new tow rig and would like to stay away from a dooley any ideas?
We just purchased a voltage at the hershey show feel in love with it cant wait to get it and take it out. We looked all over and this just has it all.
Thanks for everyones support. Lots of good things to come.
I just hope they wise up and get rid of that “Happy Jack” joke. The RV show had an enclosed (fence around it) ramp area that supposedly could be used as a patio area. The trouble was there was no way to get to that area without either raising the “Happy Jack”, or by climbing over it! Why not go the Cyclone/Road Warrior route and have the table go lenghtwise and allow access from either side of the table? It seems like a no-brainer to me. But perhaps “not invented here” will win yet again over good common sense design.
Too bad!
I just heard that Thor purchased Heartland. Very interesting. Now the “not invented here” syndrome no longer applies. Thor can utilize the Heartland garage bed/sofa design and everyone is happy! I hope this works out.
Yes we were at the 2010 RV Show in Toronto and looked at the Dutchmen Voltage
toy hauler 3900 model . Very nice toy hauler !!! I would buy it in a heart beat ,”But with my allergies the air vents would have to be in the walls or in the cupboards and under the bed so it would not blow dust or dirt around the RV so much”. With the air vents in the floor it gathers dirt and dust and blows it all around the RV,” Not Good For My Allergies”!!!! I asked if they could do these changes for me and they said “NO” !!! So I guess they are not interested in making any sales or my money is no good !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I asked other RV Dealers and they said ” yes ” we can do this for you. So we like the Voltage the best of all ” But we can not get any changes done so it would help with my Allergies . We hope that we can get some results,so we can purchase one of these super toy haulers for our retirement !!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately, floor vents are just part of the package. You can help to filter out the dust and potentially help your reaction by inserting filters made for the ducts. These will need to be changed frequently, based on usage and location, but that should help you out. Also, you can run an air purifier in the RV to also help to clear the air. Cover the vents when not in use to keep dirt from getting in them… I wrap them with saran wrap and put them back in place, but you can use whatever you like.
There are alot of tricks that you can use to make this unit work for you. PLease do not give up on the dream because of this inconvenience….Remember, there is no “perfect” RV, just aim close. Email me if you would like to talk about this further, or to buy your new RV.
Good Luck,
Barbara
Interested in buying a Voltage 3905. The weight is 14920 lbs dry. We have a 2002 F350 dually four wheel drive diesel. Has anyone had experience pulling a trailer of this weight with similar truck?
Thinking of buying a Voltage 3905. The weight dry is 14920. We have a 2002 Ford 350 dually four wheel drive diesel. Has anyone experienced pulling a trailer of this weight with this type truck or something simAilar?
We have been bought toy-haulers and large Motor Homes over the years and have gone back to a toy-hauler. We had a Coachman 38′ with 10′ garage. We saw the 3200 voltage with the 10′ garage in the San Antonio, Tx RV&Boat Show last weekend and fell in love with it. We bought it the next day and will take it on Feb. 10 we hope. We will be living in it fulltime this Summer with our two Harley’s and our 100 lb WGS Dog.
This week we are awaiting the arrival of the newest member of our family…the Voltage 3950. We just cannot wait. While we almost went with the Heartland Cyclone 3950 we stumbled across the Voltage instead and we are so glad! It is so much more livable the the Cyclone. I love the kitchen, the bathrooms are the best, and the bedroom is super roomy. I’m so glad we found this toy hauler and we can’t wait to get out there with the kids this summer!
