Doug Whyte, president of Dometic Americas, hosted a special customer reception during the International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX) Wednesday (Sept. 29) to celebrate his company’s headquarters re-locating from Elkhart, Ind., to Louisville, Ky.

Louisville mayor Jerry Abramson, together with Joe Reagan, president and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI), were the honored guests at the reception, where they met key members of Dometic’s marine division including Frank Marciano, president of Dometic Marine, according to a news release.

“We are honored that the mayor and his guests visited our booth at IBEX. They were able to view the range of innovative new products we launched during the show and meet our dedicated team of marine industry professionals. After being held in Miami Beach for seven years, it’s a coincidence that IBEX is in Louisville for the first time this year,” said Marciano, who officially welcomed the mayor. “Both Dometic and IBEX have had a great welcome to the city. Dozens of our valued customers also joined me in welcoming the mayor and his invited dignitaries to the reception. Together we celebrated Dometic Marine’s success at the show and Dometic Americas’ greater success for its future in Louisville.”

In August 2010 Doug Whyte was elected to the GLI board of directors. “We believe Louisville is the right place to continue our company’s impressive growth in all business divisions and we look forward to being a part of this dynamic community,” he said, in explaining the rationale for the move. “Our leadership team is excited about the opportunity to commence our business operations in Louisville as soon as possible. Frank Marciano and our teams have done a great job in showing our valued customers the impressive range of new products Dometic Marine introduced at IBEX.”

Dometic Americas’ corporate headquarters will move to Louisville over the next three years and result in 98 new professional jobs. Total investment is anticipated at over $4 million.
