Stat Surveys: October Class B Sales Up 3.6%

October Class B report
Retail sales of Class B motorhomes rose 3.6% in October, the ninth month this year in which sales were better than the corresponding month in 2009, Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI) reported.
Year-to-date, Class B sales are up by 26.9% over 2009, Grand Rapids, Mich.-based SSI reported.
Eight firms participated in the October survey with just five reporting sales. Kitchener, Ontario-based Roadtrek Motorhomes Inc. continues to dominate the U.S. market with a 48.3% share.
Fellow Canadian builder Pleasure-way Industries Ltd., Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was runner-up with a 24.1% share. Thor Industries Inc. was the leading U.S. builder with a 15.5% share and Winnebago Industries Inc. was next with a an 11.2% share.
Year-to-date, Roadtrek leads with a 42.8% market share, followed by Pleasure-Way with a 22.4% share.
The nationwide market for Class B motorhomes is comparatively small, with monthly retail sales ranging between 100 and 150 units for most months this year.
