Body builder Mauck2 LLC, Columbus, Ohio, is looking to break into the RV market with a stylish Mauck2 Class C motorhome shell built on an imported Mercedes-Benz Sprinter cab chassis.

“We’ve only built four at this point,” said Mauck2 President Andy Mauck. “But we’ve got a lot more in process. We think we can get to several hundred units a year in a combination of several markets. We are open to anything.”

Mauck was the designer in the 1990s of the Mauck Special Vehicle (MSV) which gained cult status among some RVers because of its unique, futuristic styling.

The bonded fiberglass-and-aluminum Mauck2 carries over some of the MSV’s characteristics but adds some wrinkles of its own, including an 80-inch-wide radius body, panoramic windows and a top-hinged rear hatch.

“It’s a bit bold,” said Mauck. “But I think that the Sprinter is a phenomenal chassis. The wide body makes a difference on what you can do inside.”

Interior can be converted into an RV, business entertainment center or transit-type bus.

The Mauck2 can be converted into an RV, a business entertainment coach or a transit-type bus with passenger seating. The Hyatt Place at Grandview Yard in Columbus offers the use of a Mauck2 to its customers. “They use it for outings, business groups and touring around town,” Mauck said.

Mauck said he has had discussions with several RV manufacturers about providing them with Mauck2 shells, but has not received any commitments yet.

Featuring an 11,030-pound GVWR equipped with a 6-cylinder, 3.0L turbocharged Mercedes Benz front-diesel engine, the Mauck2 shell is 16 feet, 4 inches long from the back of the cab.

The company shares employees and 25,000 square feet of factory space in Columbus with fabricator MRS Industrial Inc., the owners of which are investors in Mauck2 LLC.
