Stag-Parkway Inc. Acquires Carter Assets
Stag-Parkway Inc., a leading U.S. distributor of parts and accessories for RVs, has announced acquisition of Carter Distributing’s RV assets and plans to open a new distribution center in Denver.
“While we have had long-term plans to open a Denver warehouse, the opportunity to expand our next-day service to that market and the northern Rockies at this time was facilitated by Carter Distributing’s decision to exit the RV market and pursue other distribution interests,” Stag-Parkway President and CEO Martin Street stated in a news release.
“Carter’s offer to sell their assets as part of their facility closures was a perfect fit with our expansion plans. We have already begun the necessary steps to fill the void created by Carter’s exit and plan to provide regional coverage immediately from our Salt Lake City, Utah, Portland, Ore., and Arlington, Texas, warehouses until our new Denver location is fully operational,” Street said.
“When we began building our exit plans for the RV market,” said Dave Burns of Carter Distributing, “we wanted a strategy that would provide our customers with the best possible alternative for getting the products and services they require to efficiently run their parts and accessories departments. We approached Stag-Parkway about buying our assets because we believed that they would bring a comprehensive range of products, broad-based business solutions, and a solid service reputation to the market that will insure a successful transition for our customers.”
Along with most of Carter’s inventory, Stag-Parkway has also assumed Carter’s Denver building lease and is in the process of expanding their 27,000-square-foot warehouse capacity to 55,000 square feet. According to Street, “We need more room in Denver to house the wider range of products that we need to service the RV dealerships in that region. The racking and systems installation process along with staff hiring and training is underway and we expect to be fully open by the end of February. In the mean time we will continue to supply dealers from the existing space in the Denver facility.”
Carter’s Denver warehouse manager and many of his warehouse team as well as members of Carter’s customer service teams in Denver and Salt Lake City have been offered positions with Stag-Parkway.
“One of the things that both Stag-Parkway and Carter were sensitive to was making sure our plans weren’t overly disruptive to our mutual customers,” states Street. “Thankfully we had quite a bit of overlap in coverage in both markets, and where we didn’t we’ve worked together to get those customers set up in our system. Keeping the key customer contact points in place was viewed as a critical transitional component. We are fortunate to have many of Carter’s team joining our ranks.”
With the addition of Denver, Stag-Parkway will be able to provide next-day service to customers in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and parts of Northern New Mexico. Stag-Parkway operates 12 distribution centers, five call centers and a technical call center to serve the needs of RV dealerships, RV service centers and mobile RV technicians across the Unites States.
