Donati Announces Nexus RV June Open House
Startup RV manufacturer Nexus RV LLC has invited 20,000 people to an open house June 20-30 at its Elkhart manufacturing facility to promote its new line of Class C motorhomes.
”We don’t know how many people will show up,” said Claude Donati, president of the factory-direct manufacturer who reported that invitees are current or recent RV owners.
Nexus’ full lineup, which includes a traditional Phantom minimotorhome and a B-plus-style Viper C-body, will be on display at the June open house. ”We are going to have all our units on display as well as consignments and used units,” said Donati, a former Gulf Stream Coach Inc. vice president.
Supplier issues delayed a planned debut of the Nexus motorhome at last week’s Family Motor Coach Association’s (FMCA) 45th Family Reunion and Motorhome Showcase in Perry, Ga. ”We took the posture that you’re only new once and we didn’t want to make a bad impression the first time out,” Donati said.
With the supplier issues solved, Nexus plans to ship its first 10 units on April 1 to ABC Motorhomes, a rental dealership in Anchorage, Alaska.
Sixty-six minimotorhomes in Lexus’ first production run will go to rental outlets, Donati reported. ”Our plan is to use the rental business to help us initially,” he said.
Although Nexus is a factory-direct manufacturer, the company’s facilities will be open to rental dealers during Open House Week which is in the planning stages for the Elkhart area in September.
”We have a list of rental dealers and we are only a block away from where Forest River is going to hold its open house at Dynamax,” Donati said. ”We will have our doors open.”
Donati has reported that the company expects $20 million in sales while producing one unit a day during its first year.
All Nexus Class C’s are built on 14,500-pound GVWR Ford E-450 Super Duty chassis with lightweight steel superstructures and Azdell Superlite composite sidewalls and roofs.
The Phantom is available in five 23- to 32-foot floorplans with up to two slideouts and an MSRP of $85,300. The Viper will feature a molded fiberglass cap and offered in three 23- to 27-foot floorplans with up to three slideouts for an MSRP of $89,600.
Nexus has established service arrangements with 200 independent service centers throughout the country, according to Donati.
