Reader’s Digest will be visiting the city of Mentor, Ohio, and the Western Reserve Model Railroad Museum Tuesday (May 3) as part of its “We Hear You America” RV tour, the Mentor Patch reported.

Reader’s Digest is traveling to 100 cities in 100 days via RV. In addition to drawing attention to Mentor, the magazine will also give the city $1,000 to help stimulate its local economy.

Also, Reader’s Digest will feature the city of Mentor in its future publications.

The RV tour will arrive at 9:30 a.m. in front of City Hall.

Residents can join in the festivities by visiting the RV’s video booth, which is collecting testimonials from people about why their city is the best in America.

Reader’s Digest will also drop by the Western Reserve Model Railroad Museum while it’s in town. The museum was already featured in the magazine’s annual “Best of America” issue.

Rick Montgomery, the museum’s curator and board director, said he was excited about the impending visit.

“It’s amazing,” he said. “It’s one of the best things to happen to us.”

The museum has been struggling through a recent financial crisis. It owes $100,000 in back rent and may be evicted, Montgomery said previously.

He added that he hopes the magazine’s visit draws some attention to what the museum has to offer.

“We’re hoping that others see what Reader’s Digest sees,” he said.

Montgomery said donations have improved slightly since the museum’s financial predicament was first reported.

“People are coming in and giving,” he said. “We’re not there yet, but at least we’re headed in the right direction.”
