Members of the Heartland RV Owners Club were offered a first-hand tour Saturday (June 18) of the builder’s manufacturing complex in Elkhart, Ind., as part of the organization’s activities during last week’s 2011 North American Rally at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds in Goshen. Heartland’s sprawling campus on the north side of Elkhart has grown to include seven production lines and four support and sub-assembly facilities encompassing 810,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The group convened at Heartland’s corporate office where the company displayed brand new product and paint schemes, along with some prototype units. “Heartland was interested in getting feedback from the owners,” said Jim Beletti, director of owners interests for Heartland and president of the Heartland Owners Club. The event included factory tours with Heartland personnel and a luncheon at one of the plants where Heartland President and CEO Brian Brady addressed the group. Members were then transported to the RV/MH Hall of Fame. Beletti noted that in addition to RV-related functions, Heartland’s rallies also stress a charitable theme to benefit the local communities. This year’s initiatives included providing hand-knitted baby clothing donated to several agencies for mothers of newborns along with a food drive that collected 1,283 food items weighing over 1,100 pounds for Church Community Services in Elkhart.
