RVIA Members to Cast Votes for Board Seats

RVIA members will begin casting votes next week to elect seven representatives from a field of 15 candidates to seats on the association’s board, which holds the highest level of authority in the association’s organizational structure. The elections begin Aug. 1 when official representatives of RVIA members companies receive an email directing them to the RVIA website to cast their votes electronically. Obama Unveils New Fuel Economy Standards

President Obama today (July 29) formally unveiled new fuel-economy standards, saying the stepped-up miles-per-gallon requirements represent the most significant step that the U.S. has taken to wean itself off foreign oil. RVDA will honor 32 RV brands built by 16 manufacturers with its Quality Circle Award during the RV Dealers International Convention/Expo on Oct. 5 in Las Vegas. Due to the gas industry, the RV parks in Pennsylvania’s Bradford County are now filled to capacity. But, according to a report in the Towanda Daily Review, the owners of the RV parks aren’t willing to expand the size of their parks because of the “headache” of dealing with government regulations. KVH Industries Posts Record Quarterly Sales

Middleton, R.I.-based KVH Industries Inc. today (July 29) reported record revenues for the second quarter ended June 30. Revenue for the second quarter was $30.6 million, up 4% from the previous year. Diluted earnings per share for the quarter totaled $0.01 on net income of $0.2 million. During the same period last year the company reported net income of $5.3 million or $0.36 per diluted share, on revenues of $29.5 million. Elkhart, Ind.-based Patrick Industries Inc., a major manufacturer and distributor of building and component products for the recreational vehicle, manufactured housing and industrial markets, today (July 29) reported its financial results for the second quarter and six months ended June 26. FRVTA Adds 8 Students to Scholarship Program

The Florida RV Trade Association (FRVTA) board at its July meeting added eight new students to the FRVTA Scholarship Program. According to a press release, this brings the total number of students on the scholarship program to 25 full-time and five part-time students. The FRVTA Scholarship began in the fall of 1990 and since that time over 87 students have received an under-graduate degree with the aid of the scholarship. Trimas Corp. Reports Gains in 2Q Sales, Profits

Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based TriMas Corp. today (July 28) announced financial results for the second quarter ended June 30. The company reported quarterly net sales from continuing operations of $299.7 million, an increase of 18.9% compared to second quarter 2010. Second quarter 2011 income from continuing operations was $17.1 million, or $0.49 per diluted share, including a ($0.07) per share impact related to debt extinguishment costs associated with the company’s recent refinancing.... Read more
