The Canadian Class C market plunged in May, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), causing overall motorhome sales to drop 23.9% for the month and 19.4% year-to-date compared to the same periods in 2010.
SSI reported that Canadian Class A retail sales were flat in May, up 1.7%, while declining 12.6% for the first five months. Through May, Thor Industries Inc. was the leader in Class A Canadian sales with an 18.4% market share, edging out Winnebago Industries Inc., which captured an 18% share.
Class C sales fell 33.3% in May and 24.6% for the first five months. Year-to-date, Forest River Inc. led the category with a 39.3% market share followed by Winnebago holding a 20.6% share.
