Hickory Springs Names Stenger in New VP Slot

Hickory Springs Manufacturing Co., one of the nation’s largest integrated manufacturers and an international supplier of components for the furniture and bedding industries and an RV industry supplier, has announced the creation of a vice president position for its new Transportation Division as part of a companywide realignment strategy.

According to a press release, Mark Stenger has been appointed vice president of Transportation Products and Metal Components Group. In this new role, Stenger will oversee all aspects of the new division, including planning, directing and controlling the development, manufacturing and selling of the company’s transportation products and metal components.

Since joining the Hickory Springs’s California sales force in 1989, Stenger has held the positions of product manager, operations manager, general manager and most recently vice president of the Western Division since 2003.

“A key objective of our most recent realignment strategy is to accelerate our growth and diversification,” said Lee Lunsford, executive vice president and COO for the Hickory. N.C.-based company, which services the RV industry. “The creation of our Transportation Division and naming Mark vice president are important steps toward establishing strategies and plans that will ensure significant, ongoing growth in the transportation industries.”

The company’s new Transportation Division is a ISO/TS 16949 certification and ISO9001: 2008-certified company that designs and manufactures engineered seat webbing, molded rebond foam cushioning materials, tubing and formed wire structures for the school bus, golf cart, heavy truck, automotive, and marine industries. The transportation division builds on Hickory Springs’ decades of experience in the engineering, design and manufacture of seating for the furniture industry and leverages that expertise to create a line of world-class seating.

One of North Carolina’s largest employers, Hickory Springs is a privately held company based in Hickory, North Carolina, with more than 50 manufacturing plants in 16 states and China. In addition to its core furniture and bedding markets, Hickory Springs also serves a growing range of customers in the automotive, recreational vehicle, packaging, medical, marine and telecommunications industries.
