Riverside’s Trailers Target Experienced RVers

Riverside Travel Trailer Inc.’s “stick-and-tin” Riverside- branded travel trailer shouldn’t be confused with entry-level units, says Mark Gerber, vice president of sales and finance for the two-year-old, Peru, Ind., firm.
“We chose that segment of the market (higher-end stick-and-tin) because RVIA wholesale shipments show that it is the largest segment of the RV market,” Gerber said. “Being a small manufacturer, we want to be the RV that experienced campers would purchase. We are not after the first-time buyer. Our features and floorplans lend themselves to repeat buyers.”
Wood-and-aluminum Riverside Travel Trailers are available in 29- to 39-foot floorplans with MSRPs ranging from $22,000 to $28,000, including two 30-foot semi-wedge- shaped “loft” layouts. Standard features include fiberglass sinks, elevated China-bowl toilets, Dreamscape pillowtop mattresses, recessed lighting, upgraded cabinet doors, master bedroom night lights and windows that open on the end of slideouts.
Working out of a 120,000-square-foot plant in rural Peru, Riverside also has taken inspiration from company President Ken Licklider, owner of Von Liche Kennels, an internationally known dog breeder in nearby Denver, Ind., and branched into building trailers designed to transport dogs in portable kennels. So far, the largest one will carry 14 dogs at a time in separate enclosed pens, but plans are in the works to design units to carry more than 20 canines.
The company also recently updated its website (www.riversidetrailer.com) which allows viewers to compare floorplans, download brochures and take a virtual tour of the factory.
