For the second straight month the Canadian Class C market tumbled , causing overall motorhome sales to drop 17.2% in June and 17.3% year-to-date compared to the same periods in 2010.
According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), Forest River Inc. was the motorhome sales leader for the first six months, capturing a 28.9% market share followed by Winnebago Industries Inc. (17.6%) and Thor Industries Inc. (15.4%).
Canadian Class A retail sales rose 7.4% in June, but dipped 5.6% for the first six months. Through June, Thor Industries Inc. was the leader in Class A motorhome sales with a 19% market share, edging out Winnebago Industries Inc., which captured a 17.6% share.
Class C sales plunged 29.1% in June and 25.1% year-to-date. For the six months, Forest River led the category with a 41.3% market share followed by Winnebago holding a 17.6% share.
