California-based Mike Thompson RV recently held its 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Black Gold Golf Course in Yorba Linda.
According to a press release, all net proceeds were donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation through its partner Play for P.I.N.K. Mike Thompson RV owner Frank Degelas and staff presented a check for $16,582.
“We are so pleased with the help of our vendors to be able to facilitate this type of event and give back to the community,” Degelas said. “We look forward to hosting future events to help raise money for great organizations like this one, Play for P.I.N.K.”
Mark Rosenbaum of Mike Thompson RV noted: “The staff at Mike Thompson RV loved participating and donating their time to help prepare for this event. At the end of the day it really is all about family, friends, and community. We are fortunate to be in a business that provides an affordable avenue to strengthen all of those relationships.”
David Revere, inventory manager for Mike Thompson who served as coordinator for the event, added, “I am so proud of the outcome and support of the vendors and staff. Working in the RV business has given me the opportunity to meet some of the most amazing people including our customers. The RV lifestyle encourages strengthening ties with family, friends, communities and even causes.”
Revere said that even with budget restraints, RVers are continuing to travel, utilizing more of Southern California’s abundance of parks and facilities for “staycations.”
“With the local mountains, deserts, beaches, zoos, pro-sports teams and world-renowned amusement parks, we really do have it all right smack dab in our own backyard,” he said. “It is the reason folks in the RV Industry coined the term ‘staycation,’ which is a cleverly created term used to describe a vacation where you do not actually travel long distances, but rather stay in your local area and enjoy a vacation closer to home any time of year.”
