SSI: Canadian Coach Sales Surge in August

Canadian motorhome sales surged in August, as the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI) showed a 30.9% increase for the month while registrations were down 10.8% for the first eight months.

Forest River Inc. was the Canadian motorhome sales leader through August, capturing a 26.6% market share, followed by Winnebago Industries Inc. (16.7%) and Thor Industries Inc. (15.1%).

August Class A registrations rose 26.2% from the year prior and were down 4.3% year-to-date. For the first eight months, Thor was No. 1 in Canadian Class A sales with a 19.6% market share, edging out Winnebago (17.2%) and Fleetwood RV Inc. (15.5%).

Class C sales climbed 37.1% in August, but were down 16% year-to-date. For the eight months, Forest River held a commanding lead in the category with a 39% market share followed by Winnebago holding a 16.2% share.
