When NTP Distribution was founded in 1961 to provide parts and accessories to RV dealers in the Pacific Northwest, the company employed five people — who delivered parts in an old station wagon. Five decades later, the Wilsonville, Ore.-based company employs more than 200, and deliveries are made using a fleet of trucks dispatched from five distribution centers throughout the U.S.
But while a lot has changed, the company still adheres to its commitment to building long-lasting relationships with its dealers and vendors — and will be celebrating both at its Legendary 50th Anniversary and Dealer Conference, Feb. 20-24 at the convention center in San Diego.
“Response to the conference from our dealers and vendors has been phenomenal,” said Marni Drew, marketing manager for NTP. “We’re still in the planning stage, and are excited to have Keystone Automotive at our show. We expect it to be our biggest show yet — in fact, we anticipate having to turn people away.”
According to Drew, the reason for the increased enthusiasm for this show is twofold.
“We saw a ton of interest initially as people realized it was our 50th anniversary conference, but now we’re seeing a lot of excitement being generated by our recent partnership with Keystone.”
NTP Distribution announced it was being acquired by Keystone Autmotive Operations Inc. on Oct. 20. Under the agreement, Keystone intends to roll its current RV division into NTP, which will then assume the distribution of RV parts and accessories for both NTP and Keystone customers. According to a release, Keystone will be the parent company, with Ed Orzetti, president and CEO at Keystone, at the helm of the combined organization and Greg Boyd continuing as president of NTP. NTP Distribution’s senior management team also remained unchanged.
“The only changes have been positive,” Drew said of the acquisition. “We recently rolled out next-day fleet service in Arizona, and eventually plan similar rollouts across the country. The partnership allows us to enhance our customer service to an even greater degree.”
The 2012 conference starts each day’s activities with a breakfast at the convention center, followed by vendor workshops and the parts and accessories show. Motivational sales and training speaker Garrison Wynn delivers the keynote address Tuesday, and the conference includes a 50th Anniversary Lunch and Dealer Awards on Thursday.
As part of the celebration, NTP will be hosting a dinner Wednesday night aboard the legendary USS Midway, an aircraft carrier that served its country in both the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm.
