ORVA Convention Draws All of State’s Members
The Oklahoma Recreational Vehicle Association (ORVA) held its first annual state convention November 6-8 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Resort in Tulsa with 100% dealer participation, according to a press release.
“We owe it all to our former Executive Director Joe O’Brien, whose efforts made this year’s convention such a huge success,” said 2010-2011 Association President Randy Coy of Dean’s RV. “The convention had over 80 in attendance on Monday.”
Newly elected Association President Tod McClain of McClain’s RVs noted that this year’s convention was so successful that it will be the goal of the executive staff to maintain the same level of quality and success for next year’s convention, which has been opened up to surrounding state dealers in Missouri, Arkansas and Kansas.
“We decided to invite the surrounding state dealers because two dealers in Kansas along with one dealer in Arkansas attended our 2011 convention,” said McClain.
The convention began with a golf tournament on Sunday held at the Cherokee Hills Golf Club located at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Resort location followed by a welcome reception in the evening.
Monday’s agenda opened with featured top speakers covering dealership compliance, digital marketing, social media, QR Codes, MMS technology, Senate Bill No. 902, a day in the life of a successful dealer and three ways to double your service agreement revenue. Speakers included Brett Richardson, Roger Vergara, Sheril Vergara, Michael Rees, Terry McMillan and Bill Koster. The seminars were followed by a presidents banquet that featured entertainment from magician and comedian Mark Robinson.
Various sponsors, vendors and manufacturers were involved in the event, which “truly took the convention to a top notch level of success,” according to ORVA. Sponsors included GE Capital Corp., Bank of America, Protective, Stag-Parkway Inc., ADP Lightspeed, Magic Empire Recreation, Bank of the West, Coast Distribution Systems, RH Power & Associates Inc., Forest River Inc. and NTP Distribution.
During the Presidents Banquet Monday evening, Rex Floyd of Floyd’s RV was presented a plaque in tribute to his many years of service to the RV industry both on the national and state levels including serving as chairman of the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA). Coy was presented a plaque in recognition of his two years of service as president of ORVA and O’Brien was honored with a special plaque for his hard work and efforts in organizing and producing the association’s first-ever annual convention.
The final day of the convention consisted of a board meeting and elections for the association’s new officers. They include: Tod McClain, president, Steve Bell, vice president, Jan Motley, treasurer and Stephanie Sobkowiak, secretary.
