Cummins Finds ‘Green’ Practices are Profitable

Engine maker Cummins Inc. is finding that going green can be profitable, according to an Associated Press report. Cummins has invested about $10 million in 70 projects in its Indiana facilities since 2007, leading to annual savings of $4 million. Throughout the company, a total investment of about $28 million is providing annual savings of $20 million corporate-wide. Tourism operators in New Brunswick, Canada, took a serious hit this year as fewer Americans came across the border, according to the latest provincial statistics. CBC News reported that border crossings from Edmundston to St. Stephen saw traffic fall by 10% at the peak of tourism season in August, compared to last year. A new survey by the U.S. Travel Association shows frustrations remain high this travel season, so high that two out of every five air passengers would rather not fly. Manufactured housing and recreational vehicle builder Skyline Corp. will be replaced by Exterran Holdings Inc. in the S&P SmallCap 600 index after the close of trading on Dec. 30.
